Spongebob Squarepants

SpongeBob is a fry cook at the Krusty Krab restaurant, at which he has won employee of the month many times. He attends Mrs. Puff's Boating School, analogous to a driving school, but cannot pass the boating test. SpongeBob lives with his pet snail Gary in a large "pineapple house" on 124 Conch Street in fictional Bikini Bottom, which is located beneath the real tropical isle of Bikini Atoll. His neighbors are Squidward, who is a squid and SpongeBob's co-worker at the Krusty Krab, and Patrick, a star fish and SpongeBob's best friend. SpongeBob is an optimistic and energetic character who is also very naive. His hobbies include jelly-fishing and blowing bubbles with Patrick. He is unaware of how Squidward is annoyed by him.

Patrick Star

Patrick Star is an overweight pink sea star who lives under a rock and is SpongeBob's best friend. Patrick is not very intelligent, however he still offers SpongeBob advice and encourages dangerous and/or foolish activities which often get the two into trouble. Patrick is often depicted as a negative influence on SpongeBob. Like most cartoon idiots, he has occasional bursts of genius. Patrick's parents are Herb and Margie they are rarely seen in the series.

Squidward Tentacles

Squidward Tentacles is SpongeBob and Patrick's cranky neighbor. His species is ambiguous, as has been referred to as both a squid and an octopus by the series' creators. Squidward is bald with green skin, a large nose, and lives in an Eastern Island head-like house located between SpongeBob's and Patrick's residences. He works as a cashier at the Krusty Krab, a job he despises. SpongeBob and Patrick consider Squidward their friend, but the feeling is not mutual; He is oftentimes bothered by their activities and usually dislikes the two. Squidward's hobbies are making artwork and playing the clarinet , though nobody around him considers him to be very good at either of these activities. Often depicted as a Narcissist , Squidward has a large collection of self portraits and is delusional about his talents, often displaying an unjustified air of superiority. His main rival is Squilliam Fancyson, his former band classmate and the richest squid in Bikini Bottom.

Mr. Krabs

Eugene H. Krabs is the and selfish owner and founder of the Krusty Krab. He is a red crab, though his daughter, Pearl, is a sperm whale. He is the employer of both SpongeBob and Squidward. Mr. Krabs is often respected by SpongeBob while Squidward tends to loathe him. He is obsessed with money and often anthropomorphizes it. Mr. Krabs will do almost anything to obtain money or not lose it.

Plankton

Sheldon J. Plankton is a small green copepod who is Mr. Krabs's nemesis and an antagonist in many episodes. He runs an unsuccessful restaurant called the Chum Bucket, located directly across the street from the Krusty Krab. Plankton is married to a computer named Karen, and nearly became Mr. Krabs' stepfather in the episode "Enemy-In-Law ". His main goal in life is to steal the top-secret Krabby Patty recipe and put Mr. Krabs out of business. Plankton succeeds at stealing the recipe in the movie , but his goal of world domination is thwarted by SpongeBob.

Gary The Snail

Gary the Snail is SpongeBob's pet sea snail. As worms are analogous to dogs in the series, snails are to cats, and Gary vocalizes like one. He does various chores for SpongeBob, such as making his breakfast and paying the electric bill. He is shown to be very intelligent, offering advice to Spongebob at times (SpongeBob can understand his meowing) and sometimes solving problems his master cannot. In the episode Sleepy Time he can talk when within his dream, where he is not affected by "Earthly limitations". Being able to speak, he impresses SpongeBob with his oration skills. At times, Gary is neglected of Spongebob because of foolish things that take Spongebob's mind off of taking care of his pet.
